Browser stats - November 2008
7 December 08 - Back
The W3C browser stats for November 2008 show encouraging results. Firefox’s browser now shows a 44.2% share and is catching Internet Explorer’s combined lead (IE 5,6,7) of 46.7%. The best news of all is that IE 5 stats shows its share to be under 0.1%, which is good for all web designers due to is lack of support for much of todays code.
Opera’s share is 2.3%. I wonder who uses opera because I find the browser very slow on my mac compared to safari. I had not realised that its share was as high as 2.3%, as I have never tested sites in opera.
A big surprise was google’s Chrome. Only released in September, still in its early beta stages and yet to be released for the mac, the browser has managed to take hold of a 3.1% share. Googles march to take over the internet world goes on.
My preference is Safari, Camino and Firefox for developing. Safari is No1 for speed on the mac contrary to its PC cousin (safari on the PC). On the PC, Safari seems sluggish and buggy still.
