Book review: "Get to the top on google"
9 November 08 - Back
Over the years I have read bits of information here and there on SEO from magazine articles and various pieces of advice on web forums and blogs. My knowledge has gradually built up. I have recently finished reading a book on SEO called “Get to the top on google – tips and techniques to get your site to the top of the search Engine Rankings and Stay There.” by David Viney. This is my first book on the subject matter although I have bought another, also about SEO which I have yet to read.
GOOD POINTS
It’s true to say that I have learnt a number of things from this book. More importantly, the book has made me realise the importance of implimenting good SEO and there, and has urged me to carry-on learning.
BAD POINTS
My number one complaint about the book is that the book kept referring me back to the site for a relevant link or feature, while I’m think just give me the link. The author does this a huge number of times throughout this book and it’s very frustrating. It soon becomes clear that you have to pay a membership to even get to the links.
The book needs some sort of useful link reference at the back, so that I can use them in the future, instead of flicking through the pages.
Some of the articles are verbose could have used less of my time to read.
My rating:7/10
